CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Consumer and small business advocates in New Hampshire say they are disappointed but not surprised that there won’t be as much choice as they had hoped for in the new online insurance markets required under President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.
Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield of New Hampshire is poised to become the only insurer selling either individual or small group plans through the new markets when enrollment begins in October.
The co-chairman of a panel advising the state on implementing the overhaul law says that’s disheartening. Scott Baetz, who owns a Web development company in Windham, says he feels like small businesses have been pushed to the side and are being prevented from realizing the full scope of benefits the Affordable Care Act was intended to provide.
