Atlanta police are warning people of robbers who find their victims through dating applications.
Eight people came forward as victims of such crimes since February, though the number could be higher, investigators said.
HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEE QUESTIONS SECURITY OF DATING APPS
“The suspect uses the Grindr app to lure the victims to their location,” said Atlanta police Sgt. Rodney Jones, according to Fox 5. “After the date concludes, the suspect then robs the victims — often taking wallets, keys, or vehicles.”
Authorities didn’t name any of the victims, the locations of the alleged robberies, or any possible motives behind the crimes, but they provided information about one of the suspects. The suspect is a black man in his late teenage years or early 20s and has a slim but muscular build with dreadlocks.

Officers also warned people using such applications to be vigilant.
“If you are trying to Facetime somebody or get an address and are kind of hesitant — they give you a location of a cemetery or someplace you don’t know, take that as a sign,” said Officer Eric Lang.
