WATCH: Boris Johnson hides in dairy refrigerator to avoid Piers Morgan interview

Piers Morgan got a chilly reception from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who dodged requests for an interview with Piers Morgan by escaping into a dairy refrigerator.

Johnson was visiting local Yorkshire business Modern Milkman ahead of the country’s Thursday snap election. The 55-year-old prime minister, who was sporting unkempt hair and one of the dairy company’s jackets, was approached by Good Morning Britain reporter Jonathan Swain, who asked if he would come on the show.

Johnson’s press secretary Rob Oxley quickly intercepted the reporter and, as the camera rolled, could be heard saying, “Oh, for f—k’s sake.” Back in the studio, Morgan and co-host Susanna Reid reacted in shocked unison to the on-air profanity, but Swain didn’t let up and continued to pursue an interview with the Conservative politician.

“I’ve just had a reaction here from one of the minders. OK, no need to push, thank you very much,” Swain said as Johnson kept trying to dodge the glare of the camera.

At one point, Swain gets close enough to ask the prime minister if he would appear on the show and speak with the 54-year-old TV host. Johnson responded, “I’ll be with you in a second,” before promptly retreating into the shelter of an oversized dairy refrigerator.

“It’s a very frosty reception we’ve had so far,” Swain said through laughter.

Soon after what has been dubbed as #FridgeGate on social media, Johnson tweeted, “We have one more day. Make sure you have your voice heard. Vote to honour the promises of the past and for a brighter vision of the future. Vote Conservative tomorrow.”

Morgan shot back, “You couldn’t even honour a promise to do an interview, Fridge-hider.”
