Former President George H.W. Bush is out of intensive care following his hospitalization for a blood infection, according to his spokesman.
“President George H.W. Bush has been moved from the intensive care unit at Houston Methodist Hospital to a regular patient room, and is expected to continue his recovery there,” Bush representative Jim McGrath said in a statement.
Bush was grateful for the support of well-wishers in the wake of his poor health and the death of former first lady Barbara Bush last week, McGrath added.
“He also wants to assure everyone that, as good as he feels now, he is more focused on the Houston Rockets closing out their playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves than anything that landed him in the hospital,” McGrath wrote.

Bush was admitted to hospital on Sunday, one day after laying his wife to rest.
Bush on Wednesday also personally thanked Houston officials, churches, and citizens for their professionalism and “obvious care” while helping orchestrate Barbara Bush’s funeral.
My family and I thank Mayor @SylvesterTurner, his terrific staff, @houstonpolice, @METROHouston, @SBCHouston, @StMartinsDOK — and really all Houstonians — for your professionalism and obvious care in making Barbara’s visitors and funeral guests feel so welcomed. Thank you all.
