NH woman dies while hiking in Maine

MOUNT DESERT ISLAND, Maine (AP) — Authorities have identified the person who died while hiking at Acadia National Park over the weekend as a New Hampshire woman attending the University of Maine.

Park rangers say 22-year-old Shirley Ladd of Barnstead, N.H., suffered multiple injuries late Saturday morning in a 60-foot fall while hiking the difficult Precipice Trail on Champlain Mountain.
