Charles Kushner, a New York City real estate mogul and the father of White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, is in talks to purchase the Miami Marlins baseball franchise, according to an ESPN report.
Kushner is also the father-in-law of President Trump’s eldest-daughter Ivanka Trump. On Thursday morning, Forbes reported that current Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria had a “handshake agreement” in place to sell the team for $1.6 billion.
Loria purchased the team in 2002 for $158 million.
The ESPN report notes that spokespeople for both Charles Kushner and the Miami Marlins have declined to comment.
Major League Baseball also released a statement saying they have not heard of any direct or indirect conversations involving Charles Kushner purchasing the Marlins. Charles wouldn’t be the first Kushner that has flirted with purchasing a Major League Baseball franchise. In 2012, Jared Kushner submitted a failed bid to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers.
At age 31, Jared Kushner would’ve become the youngest owner in Major League baseball.
