Dewayne Dunmore, 37, of Prince George’s County was shot and killed early Friday morning on the 3000 block of Kaverton Road.
Prince George’s County police have a suspect in custody, but wouldn’t release his name, saying late Friday afternoon that formal charges had not been filed against him.
Officers involved in a nearby investigation overheard the shots around 2 a.m., and arrived on the scene to see a man firing into Dunmore’s Mercedes. The suspect then took off in a Dodge minivan, but lost control on D’Arcy Road and crashed.
He was injured in the accident and taken to the hospital where he is still recovering from his injuries, Cpl. Diane Richardson, a county police spokeswoman said. The suspect is expected to be charged with murder.
