U.S. Secret Service said no weapon was found after Donald Trump’s security detail rushed him off the stage at a rally in Reno, Nev.
In a statement late Saturday, Secret Service said there was a “commotion” in the crowd and that someone shouted “gun.”
“Secret Service agents and Reno Police Officers immediately apprehended the subject. Upon a through search of the subject and the surrounding area, no weapon was found,” the statement said.
The incident occurred near the end of Trump’s usual stump speech right after a protester in the crowd started a fuss. Trump called him out.
“Oh we have one of those guys from the Hillary Clinton campaign. How much are you being paid, $1,500? OK, take him out,” Trump said.
The $1,500 was a reference to charges that Democrats close to Clinton paid protesters to disrupt Trump rallies earlier this year.

At about that time, two Secret Service agents pulled Trump off the stage and shielded him with their bodies and a scuffle ensued in the crowd.
The Secret Service said an investigation is ongoing by federal agents and by the Reno Police Department.
Trump returned to the stage after several minutes.
“Nobody said it would be easy for us, but we will never be stopped,” he told the pumped-up crowd.
“I want to thank the Secret Service. Those guys are fantastic,” Trump added before returning to the end of his prepared remarks.
Trump’s campaign issued a longer statement after the incident.
“I would like to thank the United States Secret Service and the law enforcement resources in Reno and the state of Nevada for their fast and professional response. I also want to thank the many thousands of people present for their unwavering and unbelievable support. Nothing will stop us — we will make America great again!”
