Trump White House spending $1.75M on new furniture for potentially thousands of executive employees

President Trump’s White House is spending $1.75 million on furniture for the Oval Office and updates to office spaces connected to the executive office, slightly more than his predecessor, according to a Thursday report of government procurement records.

Trump’s office will become home to $17,000 worth of custom rugs. Another $5,000 will be spent on new wallpaper, $7,000 will go toward “furniture pedestals,” and $12,800 will cover a custom conference table.

However, the majority of spending for the executive office will go toward the office spaces where thousands of employees work in buildings next to the White House.

For example, $291,000 has been allocated to a vendor of office walls and the U.S. Trade Representative’s office is listed as the recipient, according to some August receipts reported by NBC.

Another $240,000 contract was signed with a Virginia-based furniture dealer for “wood office furniture manufacturing.”

Former President Barack Obama spent $1.5 million on renovations to the executive office.
