A Maryland high school student is facing weapons charges after he allegedly brought a gun to school.
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office said the student, a 15-year-old boy whose name was not released because of his age, brought a handgun to Tuscarora High School.
School resource officers received a tip that the student possessed a gun at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
A school district spokeswoman told the Frederick News-Post that the student told authorities he brought the gun because he feared for his safety after a recent altercation at school. The student did not threaten anyone with the weapon.
