Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney predicted Thursday that a White House proposal on tax reform will be released in September or October.
Mulvaney said National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin have been doing a “tremendous amount of work behind the scenes while most of this discussion about healthcare sort of made the news.”
“Mr. Cohen and Mr. Mnuchin have been on the Hill working with House and Senate leaders, House and Senate rank and file members to try to put some more meat on that bone. I think you’ll see a proposal very early in the fall,” Mulvaney told Fox News.
The House Budget Committee released a fiscal 2018 budget plan on Tuesday that would allow Republicans to pass tax reform through the reconciliation process, which would allow a tax reform bill to pass by a simple majority in the Senate.
