President Trump’s campaign is accelerating in-person fundraising events in conjunction with his return to live political activities after months on lockdown because of the coronavirus.
A list transmitted to Republican donors Friday by the Trump campaign’s finance department previewed four upcoming fundraising events, beginning with a “pre-rally” reception on Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, headlined by Vice President Mike Pence.
Also on tap is a “Mountain West Retreat” June 30–July 1 in Bozeman, Montana, and “Rapid City Round-Up Retreat” July 2–3 in Rapid City, South Dakota. Both events feature Interior Secretary David Bernhardt and Donald Trump Jr., a major draw on the GOP fundraising circuit, and Kimberly Guilfoyle, a Trump campaign finance chairwoman.
Rounding out the list were reminders to plan for the Republican convention in Jacksonville, Florida, Aug. 24–27, where events to finance Trump’s campaign are expected, and a “Trump Victory Committee Fall Retreat” in New York City scheduled for Oct. 9–10.
Meanwhile, Trump Jr. and Guilfoyle are to host a virtual fundraiser on Tuesday. The Trump campaign shifted to virtual footing in mid-March after the coronavirus halted in-person political gatherings. Although the president has returned to the trail this month, including for a high-dollar fundraiser in Dallas and Saturday’s rally in Oklahoma, the Trump campaign is continuing its daily staple of virtual programming.
This week, to commemorate Father’s Day, Trump Jr. interviewed the president for his weekly online campaign program Triggered.
