Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry will meet with President-elect Trump on Monday, according to reports.
Perry, a former 2016 GOP primary rival of Trump, is rumored to be in the running for various cabinet positions in the president-elect’s White House.
The governor was an outspoken critic of Trump’s throughout the Republican primary campaign. Memorably, Perry argued that “Donald Trump’s candidacy is a cancer on conservatism.”
After dropping out of the 2016 race, Perry endorsed fellow Texan, Sen. Ted Cruz.
Now that Trump has emerged victorious, Perry is one of several former critics who have met the president-elect in recent days, including Cruz and 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney. Whether Perry has any future in the Trump administration will become clear in the coming days.
