Ambulance hits truck; 4 injured

Four people were hospitalized after a Baltimore County ambulance collided with a pickup truck at a busy White Marsh intersection Thursday morning, officials said.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Honeygo and White Marsh boulevards about 10:45 a.m. while the ambulance was en route with a “low-priority” patient, said Elise Armacost, spokeswoman for the county fire department. The ambulance, from the Perry Hall station, had its lights and sirens active, she said.

A paramedic and emergency medical technician, both males, were transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The patient being transported when the crash occurred and the driver of the pickup truck, also adult males with non-life-threatening injuries, were transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center.

County police are investigating the incident. Cpl. Mike Hill, a department spokesman, said the intersection doesn?t typically present problems.
