‘Save Texas’: Dan Crenshaw stars in Avengers-style campaign ad

Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw and a group of fellow Republicans star in a campaign advertisement that looks like a scene out of Marvel’s Avengers.

The advertisement, which has raised $218,000 since its release on Thursday, features Crenshaw jumping out of an airplane to recruit other Texas Republicans to join him in Congress to “save Texas.”

Among those enlisted by Crenshaw in the video are August Pfluger, Wesley Hunt, Tony Gonzales, Beth Van Duyne, and Genevieve Collins. Pfluger, Hunt, and Gonzales, like Crenshaw, are military veterans. Crenshaw touted the advertisement on Twitter, calling it, “Mission Impossible meets the Avengers.

“Who says campaign ads have to suck?” Crenshaw wrote.

Rob Costello, a spokesman for Collins, didn’t disclose the production costs for the advertisement, but he noted that the video had already paid for itself. More than 1 million people have viewed the advertisement across all social media platforms. The money will be distributed between the candidates featured in the video, all of whom are running in tight races that could be pickup opportunities for House Republicans.

“Not only is this ad campaign helping with outreach and engaging voters in a way you don’t typically see in politics but it is inspiring donors from all over the country to get involved with and support these important races,” Van Duyne told the Dallas News.

Election Day is roughly 37 days away.
