DiCaprio floats green jobs plan at meeting with Trump

Oscar-winning actor and climate activist Leonardo DiCaprio met with President-elect Donald Trump Wednesday in New York to discuss a green jobs plan.

DiCaprio together with officials from his philanthropic Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation visited to present Trump and his advisers with a green jobs “framework.”

The foundation developed the framework “in consultation with leading voices in the fields of economics and environmentalism — that details how to unleash a major economic revival across the United States that is centered on investments in sustainable infrastructure,” according to a statement issued after the meeting.

“Our conversation focused on how create millions of secure, American jobs in the construction and operation of commercial and residential clean, renewable energy generation,” it added.

The meeting comes a day after Trump and his daughter Ivanka met with former Vice President Al Gore to discuss climate change.

Interestingly, the DiCaprio framework resembles the solar initiative that Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton touted during the campaign, creating jobs through the advancement of solar energy.

DiCaprio was named as a special representative on climate change by the United Nations and released a documentary earlier in the fall on climate change called “Before the Flood.”
