LOS ANGELES (AP) — A gang member who hid out in the Philippines for 11 years was found guilty Thursday for four murders during a mid-1990s crime spree in a quest to make the gang the most feared in Los Angeles.
Jurors found Pierre Mercado guilty of four counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping and five counts of attempted murder. He will be sentenced Aug. 24 and faces up to life in prison.
