An airstrike killed Quari Tayib, a Taliban leader, and eight Taliban fighters in Afghanistan this week, U.S. forces announced on Saturday.
“The strike was part of ongoing efforts to deny Taliban freedom-of-movement in the area,” U.S. Forces-Afghanistan said in a statement. “Tayib had been a target-of-interest since 2011 and was directly responsible for the deaths of U.S. service members in Afghanistan.”
The strike did not kill any civilians according to U.S. officials.
