Libertarians gain ballot access in all 50 states, D.C.

Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson and running mate Bill Weld will appear on election ballots in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, the campaign announced Tuesday evening.

“With a majority of Americans wanting a choice other than Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, today we now know for certain that on Election Day, every voter in America will have that alternative option,” the campaign said in a statement. “And today we also know that the only other option on every American voter’s ballot will be myself and Gov. Weld.”

The former New Mexico governor declared his presidential bid in January and later recruited the former Massachusetts govenor as his partner. Thus far, they have attained more access on more state ballots than Green Party nominee Jill Stein and independent candidate Evan McMullin.

Johnson-Weld are polling at an average of 9 percent when up against Republican nominee Donald Trump, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton and Stein.
