Reince Priebus returns to old law firm, joins speakers’ circuit

Former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus announced Wednesday he is returning to his old Wisconsin-based law firm and joining the professional speakers’ circuit, his first roles since leaving the Trump administration.

“Been great to have time off — but excited to be joining @MichaelBestLaw as President and working out of DC & pumped to join @WashSpeakers!” Priebus tweeted Wednesday, referring to Michael Best & Friedrich LLP and the Washington Speakers Bureau.

Priebus served as President Trump’s chief of staff between Jan. 20 and July 31, acting as a link between establishment Republicans and Trump’s wing of the GOP, before being ousted in favor of Gen. John Kelly amid rumors of tensions between Priebus and the president.

Prior to his post in the administration, the Wisconsin native was chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2011 to 2017.

Michael Best managing partner David A. Krutz said Priebus would bring a “unique understanding of federal, state, and local issues to advise and counsel the firm and its clients.”

“In addition to joining Michael Best, Reince will also serve as chairman of the advisory board for Michael Best Strategies LLC, the firm’s government relations and public affairs group,” Krutz wrote in a statement.

Priebus previously worked at Michael Best for almost 13 years before entering politics.
