The detention hearing for a D.C. lobbyist accused of funneling millions of dollars from Pakistan’s spy agency to buy influence in America has been postponed.
Sixty-two-year-old Syed Ghulam Nabi Fai of Fairfax was arrested Tuesday. Prosecutors say he acted as an agent of the Pakistani government for 20 years without registering with the Justice Department, then lied to federal officials to conceal his activities.
Fai’s preliminary hearing was supposed to be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at federal court in Alexandria, but his attorney, Nina Ginsberg, had a scheduling conflict. The hearing is now set for 2 p.m. Tuesday.
