SPENCER, N.C. (AP) — All 20 of Norfolk Southern’s Heritage locomotives will be on display at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer for what organizers say may be the only time.
The locomotives will be display Tuesday and Wednesday. Norfolk Southern Chief Executive Officer Wick Moorman says this is the first and probably only time all the locomotives will displayed together in one place.
The locomotives are painted in the color schemes of predecessor railroads.
Norfolk Southern is producing the Heritage fleet as part of the company’s 30th anniversary celebration. Norfolk Southern was created in 1982 with the consolidation of Southern Railway Co. and Norfolk and Western Railway Co.
But both of those trace their lineage to hundreds of companies dating back to the early 1800s.
