Members of the new Chesapeake Conservation Corps planted trees in Annapolis to celebrate their first year. The corps pairs young adults with watershed organizations, local governments and community groups where the volunteers get hands-on environmental, leadership and technical training while helping restore the environment. Corps members planted more than 200 trees on Monday to improve water quality in the South River while learning about the program’s first year and efforts to restore the Chesapeake Bay. The corps is administered by the Chesapeake Bay Trust, the grant-making organization funded in part by fees from Chesapeake Bay license plates. ??– AP
