CLEVELAND – Donald Trump is officially the 2016 Republican nominee for president, thanks to his children.
The billionaire businessman’s eldest son, Donald Jr., officially put his father over the 1,237-delegate threshold needed to secure the nomination during the roll call vote on the convention floor Tuesday night.
“Congratulations, dad! We love you,” he shouted into a microphone positioned next to the New York delegation, whose votes he cast for his father moments prior.
The moment was met with massive applause as Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York” played throughout the convention hall.
