French gunman who killed 3, injured many still at large

A gunman who killed three and injured about a dozen others is still at large after opening fire at a Christmas market in Strasbourg, France.

The shooter has been identified, but is still not in police custody, according to French authorities.

According to CNN, the suspected gunman is a 29-year-old man who was born in Strasbourg and the suspect suffered injuries during a police confrontation.

The French Ministry of the Interior tweeted that they were actively seeking the shooter and encourage citizens in the area to stay in their homes.

The shooting was in the northeastern part of the city and occurred around 8:00 p.m., and the anti-terror division is in charge of the investigation, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office said.

As the search for the gunman ensued, European Parliament was put on lockdown.
