Free admission to the Walters Art Museum, the Baltimore Museum of Art and other Baltimore area venues begins this October with Free Fall Baltimore, the arts initiative and cultural tourism program presented by Mayor Martin O?Malley and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts.
“The first sentence of the Walters? mission statement is to bring art and people together for enjoyment, discovery and learning,” Walters Board President William Paternotte said. “Free admission eliminates all financial barriers to the achievement of this mission and demonstrates a commitment to our community ? enabling everyone to enjoy these exceptional art museums.”
Both the Walters and the BMA are hoping that Free Fall will bring new visitors and more appreciation for the arts in Baltimore.
“This will be an exciting fall for Baltimore as people can attend literally hundreds of free art events in October and November and visit the BMA and Walters for free anytime,” BMA Director Doreen Bolger said. “We hope that this showcase of the arts will encourage new audiences and remind others of the wealth of talent in our city.”
Free admission for both museums begins on Oct. 1.
