SEXUAL OFFENSES

JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Jay Nixon is weighing whether to sign changes to Missouri’s rape laws that could send more people to prison for longer sentences. The legislation would change the state’s consent laws, allowing prosecutors to seek felony rape convictions if a victim was incapacitated due to drugs or unconsciousness. It would also let juries find someone guilty of a lesser felony rape charge during deliberations.
