Former D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown got to leave the District for a little longer than he expected.
After Brown pleaded guilty on June 8 to a federal bank fraud charge, a judge approved a request to allow the disgraced lawmaker to leave the area to escape the public attention surrounding the case. Usually, defendants awaiting sentencing are required to remain within 50 miles of D.C.
