The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday advised travelers not to visit Canada amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.
This comes as Canada received a “Level Four: Very High” travel recommendation by the CDC, according to a report.
Roughly 80 destinations around the world have a Level Four designation, according to the CDC.

This comes after travel restrictions with Canada and Mexico were lifted by the U.S. government for fully vaccinated individuals in November.
The restrictions had been in place for nonessential travelers since March 2020, according to the report.

Canada remains a primary destination for U.S. travelers, the report noted, but Canada advised its citizens not to leave the country for travel deemed nonessential in December.
