King Abdullah II of Jordan called President-elect Joe Biden on Monday to discuss strengthening the country’s relationship with the United States.
“His Majesty King Abdullah II, in a phone call with #US President-elect Joe Biden, expresses keenness to continue bolstering the strategic partnership between the two countries to expand cooperation, in service of mutual interests and regional security and stability,” the Royal Hashemite Court tweeted.

A number of world leaders, including a handful from Arab nations, have already called Biden to congratulate him on his election victory.
According to Axios, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el Sisi and Lebanese President Michel Aoun were among the first Arab leaders to congratulate Biden.
President Trump has not acknowledged Biden as the victor of the election. His campaign is continuing legal fights in several states, citing allegations of voter fraud that have yet to be proven.
Electors must send their votes in by Dec. 14, but if Biden is declared the winner by the “safe harbor” of Dec. 8, or six days before the due date, Congress can officially acknowledge Biden as the winner.
