Support for Brett Kavanaugh dropping: Fox News poll

Support for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has waned over the past month, according to the results of a newly released poll.

As the confirmation process has been roiled with the sexual assault allegation against the judge, Fox News found that a 5 percent drop over the past month in registered voters who would vote to confirm Kavanaugh.

Forty percent of respondents said they would vote in favor of Kavanaugh, when asked sometime between Sept. 16 and 19; In August, 45 percent of respondents said yes.

Meanwhile, 50 percent of registered voters in September said they would reject Kavanaugh, versus 46 percent in August.

Christine Blasey Ford, a California professor, came out publicly in recent weeks to accuse Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her at an early 1980s Maryland party while they were both in high school. Kavanaugh vehemently denies the allegation. The Senate Judiciary Committee seeks testimony from both Kavanaugh and Ford about the allegation.

The poll, released during “Fox News Sunday,” has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
