Buttigieg filming documentary about 2020 campaign

Pete Buttigieg is allowing documentary filmmakers to chronicle his surprising rise during the 2020 campaign.

Production company Story Syndicate has filmed some of Buttigieg’s campaign events and attended the first Democratic debate in Miami last week, according to Axios.

The film has not yet been acquired by a streaming or entertainment company and whether it’s ever released depends on the outcome of Buttigieg’s campaign.

2020 hopeful and mayor of South Bend, Indiana is following in the footsteps of other political figures, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and 2020 hopeful Beto O’Rourke, who have allowed film crews to document their campaigns.

Ocasio-Cortez was involved in Netflix’s Knock Down the House and HBO aired Running with Beto earlier this year. The freshman congresswoman from New York is also in talks for a documentary on the Green New Deal.

Buttigieg, who launched his presidential campaign as a little-known candidate, is polling in fifth place, according to a RealClearPolitics average of data.
