Perhaps Vidal will open a chain of V hotels to compete with the W.
GORE Vidal, now 82 and confined to a wheelchair, sold his house in Ravello, Italy, five years ago when his lifelong companion, Howard Austen, died. Now, La Rondinaia (The Swallow’s Nest), a seven-bedroom mansion on the Amalfi Coast, is being turned into a luxury hotel, reports Globorati.com. Vidal’s studio — with his desk, books and artifacts — remains untouched, and the new owners intend to keep it this way.
