The president of the Flint, Michigan, school board was removed from her position Wednesday after she reportedly head-slammed and repeatedly punched the board’s treasurer during a committee meeting earlier in the day.
Danielle Green, the president of the board for Flint Community Schools, was stripped of her title of school board president during an emergency meeting Wednesday night.
Earlier that day, Green reportedly assaulted treasurer Laura MacIntyre during a finance committee meeting by slamming MacIntyre’s head into a desk, repeatedly punching her, and grabbing her throat, according to Michigan Live News. MacIntyre was treated for a concussion following the incident.

The assault prompted the board to call an emergency meeting to strip Green of her title, which passed on a unanimous vote. Green did not attend the meeting.
“There was no fight. There was no argument. I was chairing a committee meeting and I was attacked, unprovoked,” MacIntyre said at the emergency meeting. “There was no escalation, fight or attack previous to being attacked. … I was brutally attacked and had to seek medical attention. I am only here to see that the truth comes out and justice is served.”
MacIntyre said she intends to “pursue this to the full extent of the law and I’m looking at my other legal options as an individual.”
WJRT reported that Green struck a conciliatory tone for her actions but remained defensive.
“None of this am I proud of. Absolutely not. And this is one incident… Never in my life would I have thought something like this I will be involved in ever, ever,” the embattled board member said. “And I can say this, my record speaks for itself.”

The altercation was reportedly sparked by a disagreement regarding the building of new schools in the district.
Despite losing the presidency of the board, Green remains a member of the school board. Only a recall election or an order from state Gov. Gretchen Whitmer can remove her from her post.
