CNN anchor to parent company Time Warner on Samantha Bee controversy: ‘This is a family issue’

CNN anchor John King said Thursday that Samantha Bee’s vulgar remarks about President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump are a “family issue” as his network is owned by Time Warner, which also owns TBS, the station on which Bee’s show airs.

During a panel, King agreed that there is a perception of a double standard between liberals attacking actress Roseanne Barr for her tweet regarding former Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, but then turning around and reposting video of Bee’s comments against Ivanka.

“Some things just aren’t funny. Roseanne Barr’s racism is not funny, Samantha Bee using that word is not funny. Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, just calling it ‘vile and vicious’ language, I could not agree more,” King said, adding that he believes “explicit profanity about anybody” is not OK.

“Again, CNN is owned by Time Warner, so this is a family issue, if you will,” he noted, before opening the discussion to the panel.

During her Wednesday night show, Bee said Ivanka was a “feckless c–t” and told her to “put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to fucking stop it.”

Amid the fallout, Bee offered an apology to Trump and her viewers Thursday afternoon. “It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it,” she said.
