Basketball coaches from three top universities in Indiana have endorsed Donald Trump less than 24 hours before the Tuesday primary.
Digger Phelps from the University of Notre Dame and Gene Keady from Purdue University joined Bobby Knight from Indiana University on Monday as supporters of the New York businessman.
“Indiana and Notre Dame and Perdue used to fight hard against each other, but we all now want to be united and be under the same type of safe situation in the United States and Mr. Trump is the answer to that,” Keady told attendees at a rally in South Bend, Ind., Monday night.
Phelps also gave introductory remarks before the GOP front-runner took the stage for his final event before Tuesday’s election.
“Coaches know how to get things done. Donald Trump is one of the great coaches of this country and we’re all tired of what’s not gotten done for us the last eight years in this country and trust me with this, he is the man who will make America great again,” Phelps told the audience Monday night.
Knight endorsed Trump last Wednesday at a campaign rally in Indianapolis.
“In a Trump administration, there will never be another thing like what happened in Benghazi,” Knight said about Democratic foe Hillary Clinton’s role allegedly mismanaging the Libya attacks in 2012.
