Former President Donald Trump blamed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for the Republican Party’s performance in the midterm elections.
“It’s Mitch McConnell’s fault. Spending money to defeat great Republican candidates instead of backing Blake Masters and others was a big mistake,” Trump posted to his social media platform Truth Social.
THE TRUMP DELUSION HAS FINALLY STARTED WEARING OFF
Masters, who was endorsed by Trump in the Arizona Senate race, lost to incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ).

“He blew the Midterms, and everyone despises him and his otherwise lovely wife, Coco Chow,” Trump continued, referring to McConnell’s wife, Elaine Chao, who served as transportation secretary in the Trump administration.
The GOP’s hope of controlling the Senate suffered a blow on Sunday when Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) won over Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, giving Democrats 50 seats in the Senate.

Trump also shared a Federalist article in a Truth Social post, saying, “Agree with this 100%! Mitch McConnell is a disaster for the Republican Party and the Country. He should have improved Infrastructure to fix it, not the Green New Deal, wrapped up like Infrastructure. He gave Democrats 4 Trillion Dollars to throw out the window, and backed bad candidates like Lisa Murkowski.”
The former president is expected to announce his intent to run for president in 2024 on Tuesday at Mar-a-Lago.
