The list of questions special counsel Robert Mueller wants to ask President Trump as part of his Russia investigation include queries about former national security adviser Michael Flynn, fired FBI Director James Comey, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and possible Trump campaign coordination with Russia, according to a report.
Some of the four dozen open-ended questions seek to better understand Trump’s public statements, as well as his relationships with family members and top aides, per the New York Times.
Other lines of inquiry cover his Russian business dealings, White House adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner’s efforts to establish back channels with the Kremlin during transition, and former campaign official Roger Stone’s knowledge of email hacks targeting key Democratic players.
Jay Sekulow, Trump’s personal lawyer, declined to comment to the Times. A spokesman for the special counsel did not return the news outlet’s queries.
While Trump has indicated he is open to a sit-down interview with federal investigators, Rudy Giuliani, the latest addition to his legal team, suggested in an April 25 report that Trump’s counsel is still opposed to the idea.
Despite being investigated by the special counsel, Mueller informed Trump over the course of negotiations regarding an interview that the president is not considered a criminal target of the probe.
