March for Our Lives events pop up in London, Tokyo, and even parts of Africa

Supporters of the “Never Again” movement, in a gesture of solidarity with the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., Saturday are holding their own events around the world to show unity with survivors despite the tens of thousands of miles that stand between them.

Approximately 800 marches are being held around the country and the world Saturday as the main event in America’s capital unfolds this afternoon.

Even in places like New Zealand and Africa, people gathered to call for change and create awareness of what activists have said is an epidemic of violence in schools.

On Mauritius, the island nation off the southeastern coast of Africa, around 10 people marched through the capital city of Port Louis, demanding gun violence in school never happens again, according to social media.

Across Europe, children, teenagers, and adults gathered for marches down city streets while others communed together to honor those killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Feb. 14.
