The sixth Democratic debate will reportedly be held in Los Angeles and hosted by PBS and Politico on Dec. 19.
The debate will come less than two months before the Iowa caucuses, but the exact date of the event is not yet known, according to NBC News.
Politico said Friday that in order to qualify, “candidates must either receive 4% or more support in at least four qualifying national polls or single-state polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and/or Nevada; or receive 6% or more support in two qualifying single-state polls in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and/or Nevada.”
Candidates also must receive donations from at least 200,000 unique donors and have a minimum of 800 unique donors per state in at least 20 U.S. states.
Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said last year that Democrats were hoping to hold a dozen debates before a nominee is chosen, six in 2019 and six more in 2020.
The next debate is slated for Nov. 20 and will be hosted by MSNBC and the Washington Post in Georgia, and moderated by a panel of all women. So far, nine of the candidates have qualified for the event.
According to a RealClearPolitics national average of polls, former Vice President Joe Biden currently leads Sen. Elizabeth Warren in the polls 27.2% to 21.8%, with South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg trailing with 7% support.
