Louisville officer shot during Breonna Taylor protests released from hospital

Louisville Metro police officer Robinson Desroches is “recovering with family” after spending nearly two weeks in the hospital, according to Louisville police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.

Desroches was shot in the stomach while patrolling the Sept. 23 protests following the grand jury’s decision to indict only one officer involved in the raid on Breonna Taylor’s home but not on any homicide charges.

Maj. Aubrey Gregory, the other Louisville officer injured during the shooting, was released from the hospital last week after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound to the hip. Gregory returned to work shortly after being released from the hospital.

Larynzo Johnson, a 26-year-old Louisville man, was arrested and charged in connection to the shooting. Johnson is being held on $1 million bail after being charged with two counts of assault on a police officer and 14 counts of wanton endangerment of a police officer for his alleged role in the shooting. Johnson has pleaded not guilty.
