Newt Gingrich: What Trump needs to give himself a chance to win

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich joined “Examining Politics” this week for preview of the crucial third and final presidential debate.

Gingrich, a supporter of Republican nominee Donald Trump, discussed on the Washington Examiner podcast what the New York businessman needs to do in Wednesday night’s prime-time faceoff with Hillary Clinton to give himself a chance to win on Election Day.

Trump trailed Clinton in the RealClearPolitics average of national polls by nearly 7 percentage points with three weeks to go. But Gingrich was confident that Trump has time to make up ground, if he sets aside petty feuds with his critics and focuses on his message of change and overhauling Washington.

Also on this week’s “Examining Politics,” Sarah Chamberlain of the Republican Main Street Partnership, a caucus of pragmatic Republicans in Congress, discussing the political problems Trump has created for many down-ballot GOP candidates.
