Donald Trump Jr. poked fun at New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after President Trump announced he is fleeing the state, in part, to avoid paying a higher tax rate.
“Nice soundbite. Now do the tens of thousands of other successful New Yorkers and businesses fleeing your idiotic policies every week. I’ll wait,” the son of the president tweeted Friday in response to Cuomo, who said he was glad the president was moving his residence from New York.
“Also I don’t remember this sentiment ever stopping you from coming to @realDonaldTrump’s office begging for $. I was there. GOOD TIMES,” Trump Jr. added.

The president announced Thursday evening that he would be moving his permanent residency from New York to Florida after paying “millions of dollars” in taxes in a series of tweets.
….this decision, but in the end it will be best for all concerned. As President, I will always be there to help New York and the great people of New York. It will always have a special place in my heart!

Cuomo responded to the president’s announcement by saying, “Good riddance. It’s not like @realDonaldTrump paid taxes here anyway … He’s all yours, Florida.”

With one of the highest tax rates in the country, New York has been losing tens of thousands of people to Florida because of the state’s advantageous tax laws, which include no state income, inheritance, or estate tax.
Trump Jr.’s “begging for $” dig is reminiscent of the president bragging during the 2016 election about all the Democratic politicians who used to want his campaign donations.
