LINTHICUM, Md. (AP) — Police and utility officials say someone stole copper wires connected to a live power station, causing a power outage in Anne Arundel County.
Police say the thief may have sustained burns while taking the wire. Investigators are asking local hospitals to keep watch for any patients suffering from extensive burns caused by heat or electricity.
Baltimore Gas and Electric first reported the power outage at a substation in Linthicum about 5:20 a.m. A utility worker realized the wire had been taken from a power substation by 10 a.m. Police say the copper wire was removed from two pieces of equipment at the substation.
