Public schools in Montgomery and Fairfax counties posted the highest graduation rates in the country among the 50 largest school districts, according to a new report from Education Week magazine.
The new report, however, uses old data. The graduation rates are from 2007 – the most recent available from the federal government’s Common Core of Data.
Montgomery’s class of 2007 posted an 83.1 percent graduation rate, according to the report, while Fairfax was second at 82.5 percent. Baltimore County (76.7 percent) and Anne Arundel (75.2 percent) placed sixth and seventh, respectively. Prince William came in 15th with 65.7 percent graduating, and Prince George’s placed 30th with 59.3 percent.
