PG County warehouse collapses, worker missing

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — A worker is missing after a massive warehouse roof collapsed in Landover.

Prince George’s County fire officials say rescuers searched through the night for the missing worker but didn’t find the man.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says rescuers paused the search Friday because the building continues to crumble. They are calling in structural engineers to help stabilize the building.

Employees at Recall, a document management company, told firefighters that a forklift accidentally struck a storage rack that toppled and created a domino effect Thursday night. The falling shelves struck support beams, then the roof collapsed and walls buckled.

The missing man’s car is still in building’s parking lot.

The company says 12 employees were safely evacuated from the facility. The company plans to provide an additional statement later Friday.
