Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser is facing a lawsuit after ordering “Black Lives Matter” to be painted in bold yellow letters two blocks down from the White House.
The lawsuit, led by a group of activists, was filed in federal court on Wednesday and alleges Bowser violated the First Amendment by showing favoritism to the “Black Lives Matter cult orthodoxy,” according to the Washington Times.
The suit also comes after her move to rename a nearby street to the painted letters, “Black Lives Matter Plaza,” at taxpayer expense. The suit claims doing so would show a preference for one faith or belief over others.
“The Black Lives Matter banner conveys that black people are the favored race of the city of D.C., which is of course a racist contention floated by a racist Democrat who persistently refuses to think logically,” the lawsuit said.
The suit is led by pastor Rich Penkoski, former judge advocate general Chris Sevier, and D.C. lobbyist Tex Christopher.
The mayor’s office has not responded to a request for comment.
