Hillary Clinton’s fundraising blitz last month paid off: She raised more than $143 million in August for her campaign and the Democratic Party.
Broken down, Clinton’s chief campaign organization, Hillary For America, raised approximately $62 million for her second White House bid, while the Hillary for Victory Fund and the Hillary Action Fund raised $81 million for the Democratic National Committee and state parties.
Hillary For America is going into the first day of September with an estimated $68 million on hand.
Combined, Hillary For America, the Hillary for Victory Fund and the Hillary Action Fund have approximately $152 million at the ready.
Clinton’s campaign announced Thursday that more than 2.3 million people have donated to the campaign, and that the average donation last month was $50.
“Thanks to the more than 2.3 million people who have contributed to our campaign, we are heading into the two months of the race with the resources we need to organize and mobilize millions of voters across the country,” Hillary for America campaign manager Robby Mook said in a statement Thursday.
“Donald Trump’s divisive rhetoric continues to drive voters away from him and the Republican Party and has created new opportunities for Democrats up and down the ticket. These resources will help us to register and turn out millions of voters to elect progressive candidates across the country,” he said.
A fair chunk of the money raised by Clinton can be traced to her August fundraising blitz.
The Democratic nominee and her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., worked the fundraising circuit hard last month, with much of their efforts taking place behind the scenes and away from the eyes of the press.
In the first few weeks on August, Clinton and Kaine raised more than $57 million, $11 million of which came from Kaine. Clinton raised a whopping $19 million from just three days of fundraising in California.
The Clinton campaign’s fundraising efforts involve Kaine and Clinton partaking in approximately 43 high-profile events in 14 states, according to the Associated Press.
