The president of the White House Correspondents’ Association received a standing ovation when he shared a stern rebuke against President Trump’s “fake news” rhetoric when he spoke during the White House Correspondents’ dinner on Saturday.
“It is our job to report on facts and to hold leaders accountable. That is who we are. We are not ‘fake news,'” Jeff Mason, White House correspondent for Reuters, said to applause. “We are not failing news organizations. And we are not the enemy of the American people,” he added. A standing ovation followed.
