Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who is likely to become chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the next Congress, argued Monday that a special counsel should have been hired to look into “all things” related to Hillary Clinton.
“We should have had a special counsel appointed a long time ago to look at all things Clinton,” Graham told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday.
The comments were made after comments from Hannity connecting Clinton with the Uranium One deal that occurred when she was secretary of State and her presidential campaign with the unverified “Trump dossier,” which contains salacious, unverified information about President Trump and his relationship with Russia.
Graham reiterated his vow from the weekend that if he becomes chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee in the next Congress, he will examine the extent to which the dossier was used in obtaining a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to spy on Trump campaign adviser, Carter Page.
“So here’s what I will do if I am the chairman of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate next year: I’m going to look at the FISA warrant application. How much of it was based on the dossier?” Graham said.
“Was there any information beyond the dossier offered to get the warrant?” Graham said. “And if the dossier was unverified, how could you swear to the court that it was accurate? Somebody misled the court. So I promise you and your listeners that we’re going to find out how this warrant was issued.”
Special counsel Robert Mueller was appointed in 2017 to examine Russian interference in the 2016 election and to determine if the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin.
